The North Brevard Historical Society was formed in 1966 and found its current home in the museum building on Washington Avenue in 1989. There they curate and preserve a collection of historical local artifacts which include many pieces from the mid-1800′s through the mid-1900′s. Some of these include early photos of the Dixie hotel, Canaveral club, and the Canaveral Lighthouse. They also host a collection of high school year books from the early 1900′s on and archived issues of local newspapers as well.
Other items of interest in the museum collection include vintage orange and produce crate artwork, space-themed and astronaut memorabilia, dishware including blue china pieces, local sports team jerseys and athletics memorabilia, World War II uniforms, posters, and other artifacts, quilts, typewriters, antique appliances, dolls and more. A bookstore sells locally published histories of the area and families who helped to develop the Space Coast.
